THE 2010 Helensburgh and District Junior Restricted Tournament is being held at Helensburgh Tennis Club once again from Monday to Friday August 9-13.

The entry form can be downloaded from the Downloads area of the home page of this website, and should be returned to Alison Reid by Friday August 6.

This popular event is a great tournament for all ages and gives young members the chance to play against players from other local clubs. HELENSBURGH Tennis Club's ladies third team went into their final match of the season against Anchor Linwood last week knowing that they had to win at least 5 sets to 4 if they were to be crowned division 4b champions and gain promotion to division three.

The team started nervously with 1st couple Lizzy Burt and Yvonne MacFarlane losing their opening set as did Rona Foster and Judith Reilly at 3rd couple. Fiona Chalmers and Morag Cawley at 2nd however held their nerve and took their first set 6-3.

HELENSBURGH Tennis Club's Gordon Reid was one of only two non-seeds in yesterday's men's main draw singles quarter-finals at the 21st British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships at Nottingham Tennis Centre.

The 18-year-old British no.2 produced a polished opening performance to overcome French eighth seed Frederic Cazeaudumec 6-3, 6-2, but then failed to make the last four.

THE lucky winner of the Helensburgh Tennis Club Lottery for July is Harry Fotheringham.

Lottery organiser Gay Black made the draw today, and a cheque for £20 will be sent to Harry shortly.
