HELENSBURGH Tennis Club's mens first team finished their West of Scotland League campaign with an emphatic 9 – 0 win over Giffnock.

The 2009 team of Robert Dunbar, Steve Losh, Niall Hope, Alan MacBeath, Hadden Smith, Alastair Hope (pictured) and Bobby Kerr won five matches and lost three, two of which were 5 – 4 defeats. Helensburgh will probably finish in third place in division one and keep their place for another year.

HELENSBURGH Tennis Club's annual President's & Vice-President's mixed doubles tournament will be held today (Saturday July 4) as part of a Wimbledon fun day.

Be at the club at 2pm to watch the Wimbledon ladies final, and enjoy it with strawberries and cream and a glass of bubbly. At 4pm the President's and Vice-President's fun tournament gets underway, followed by a buffet at around 6pm. President Mike Bews is supplying the salmon and chicken — all you have to supply is the salads etc. and of course the refreshments.

HELENSBURGH Tennis Club singles champions Katie Fulton and Alan MacBeath retained their titles with ease at the club championships finals day on Saturday.

Katie was up against 17 year-old Lizzie Burt, who earned her place in the final with a great win over club secretary Denise Laverty.
